Auditions

What Can I Expect?

We love discovering new talent! And everyone has an opportunity at our open auditions. Melodramas are not just badly acted pieces of material (a la William Shatner from the later part of Star Trek), but require some real comic timing and talent to pull it off well.

Melodramas also have the added dimension of interaction with the audience. Be prepared to think on your feet and keep the audience entertained. However, the melodrama also lends itself well to new actors, as it is an entirely different discipline than performing dramatic pieces.

So come on down and stretch your acting legs, you may find your inner ham.

The actual audition process occurs over a two day period and consist of completing registration forms and peforming cold readings from the script. Roles will be awarded after the close of the second session. Each participant is encouraged to attend each day if possible. All participants are encouraged to join our troupe and help the behind the scenes efforts such as making and selling popcorn, artwork, sound and or pre-show entertainment.

Story Line

Hercule Pierogi

This murder mystery spoofs more than the Agatha Christie novels in this ‘play within a play’.

When half the cast of ‘Murder on the Oriental Rug’ bails out, the remaining performers are stuck with playing all the roles. During the show you’ll visit the clinic of Dr. Charles Ovary, renowned hot flash specialist who’s secretly treating a famous actress trying to regain her youth. You get to know the doctor’s coldly passionate wife, his female protege’, the actress’ hunky husband , a flighty French maid, a shifty handyman and Inspector Hercule Pierogi investigating the dead body on the Oriental Rug.

Will the play make it to Broadway? Will the performers remember their lines? One thing is certain, before the evening is over, someone will be ruthlessly murdered and you will be asked to solve the crime for prizes.
